'Theft, the one unforgivable sin, the common denominator of all sins. When you kill a man, you steal a life. You steal his wife's right to a husband, rob his children of a father. When you tell a lie, you steal someone's right to the truth. When you cheat, you steal a right to fairness. There is no act more wretched than stealing.'
The Kite Runner, a powerful novel that lives up to all its review - haunting, moving, unexpected, unforgettable, evocative, genuine, extraordinary, astonishing...
i am one third through this novel, and already im terribly moved and haunted by it. great style and a very special plot it has got. luckily i've read it this hols. if not, i might just have missed reading this intriguing book for good.

chomp chilli chomp II
since the previous post didnt quite go the direction i wanted it to, here'a a part two to it on a happier note. :)
since the opening of part of the circle line, i've never been anywhere near it. serangoon can be considered the nearest experience i've ever had with the circle line (i took purple line that day). and its kinda weird to see directional signs in train stations to have orange colour in it. looking forward to the opening of the rest of circle line next year, it'll be so much more convenient in future for dinners at holland v and more picnics at the botanic garden. met may and huishan at serangoon to share a cab to chomp chomp.

it was a beautiful night. the moon was so round and bright i wanted to capture that night of beauty, but the moon's one thing you can never capture on a camera. tested and failed many times. it'll always turn out blur or not sharp enough. renee and audrey went to get stocks for their online blogshop, zigzagzey.livejournal.com (do visit if you like to shop online!), so the rest of us went ahead to order first. we got 40 satays, stingray, vege, carrot cakes, hokkien mee, sugarcane and soya milk. what a feast it was, we were all super full after the meal.

and here's some unglam candid shots that im still considering if i should upload onto fb or not. haha. but for you my privileged blog viewers, enjoy these while they last. haha.

given the greedy nature in us, we went on for dessert, frozen yoghurt at Frolicks even though we were full to the throat. ferlin and huishan have got free voucher for toppings, how can we miss it! oreo with frozen yoghurt is the best combi ever. the sour yoghurt with a tinge of sweetness from the oreo toppings, just about the right taste! heehee.

and as always our meetup is always that enjoyable and comfortable with endless topics and laughters. love you girls! but the night ended sort of abruptly cause ferlin needed to be home early (okay it wasnt really early then). looking forward to our next meetup to continue with the unfinished conversation. oh and almost forgot, thanks ferlin and huishan for the handy souvenirs from HK and the US. thanks for remembering us even when you are having fun overseas! :)

chomp chilli chomp
"chop chilli chop, chop chilli chop,
chomp chilli chomp chilli chomp chilli chomp!"
haha! super lame. met up with the humdingers last friday night and what a night full of obstacles it was. from Holland V's xlb buffet to Essential Brew to Chomp Chomp, changed the venue several times but as short as the meetup feels, luckily we still managed to meet, to catch up. the meeting place was never an issue to me, what's more important is the effort from everyone, to still want to keep in touch and still stay interested in everyone else's life. and that's the least we can do isn't it? with lesser and lesser common experience and identities to bond us together, the least we can do is try make time out of our busy lives for each other. and dun say 'go ahead without me', for what's the point of meeting anymore without you. we can always work something out can't we. furthermore given our friendship, there is no need to worry about 'troubling everyone else or scared the meetup will be cancelled because of you etc'. and even if that's the case, i'd love to be troubled by you.
if the heart is willing, it will found a thousand ways.
i know this is inevitable, and will probably be worst in future when we start working. but this is pro-ly one of the best reason why people at the age of 20plus 30, find themselves losing all their friends - busy, tired, don't feel like. amidst all the important, major things you have to attend to at the moment, i hope our friendship, our meetup, is among one of those important things in your priority list. please, don't let our friendship die off. it always start like this.
ps. i'm not arrowing, not blaming, just a reminder to my temporarily distracted friends. i know they care big time about our friendship. i know they love us as much as i do.
and to those who are temporarily too carried away with their busy lives, take a break, turn around and take a look at the friends you left behind. it's not too late, yet.

masterchef yishun
been using the phone alot today, and suddenly i noticed something about our house phone. can you see? try spotting the difference! (haha my favourite fb game)

number 7, 8 and 0 are apparently the least popular numbers in our phonebooks since their buttons are still intact. the protective plastic layer for the other numbers have sort of been scratched already! heehee.
called crystal jade at holland v today to make reservations for their xlb buffet, but guess what, we really need to book that one week in advance! :S actually qihui told me before that their xlb buffet has to be booked one week in advance. but i thought one week's abit too much and didnt, so in the end... :( really couldn't get seats for friday's 8.30pm slot! super sians, like we've all been so looking forward to the buffet!
prepared dinner for my family tonight with my sis since her bf's coming over for a meal. and i haven touched the stove for some 2 months or so? it feels so different to cook here because i duno what ingredients are available and where those condiments are placed.
she was screaming away when i took this photo, hahaha. okay and actually my mum helped when she reached home cause i think she cannot stand our speed, she say we too slow. :(

my favourite dish below on the left. it's super shiok!

of pratas, mr bean, and a haircut
'RAH-RAH-AH-AH-AH
ROMA, ROMA-MA
GAGA, OOH LA LA
want your bad romance~~'
okay totally a random start, but this song kept making its way into my mind for the whole of today, very addictive (rah rah ah ah ah roma roma ma~) hahaha.
i've been seeing so much of kelsey these days that my blog can serve as the evidence. and our meetups are totally random and uncalled for. always a spontaneous call and we're out somewhere having a meal or something. met up with her last saturday, a day with an oven-like weather, to have prata. and the reason i say oven-like is because once i step out into the sun, its like i've just stepped into an oven preparing to be roasted or baked! horrible weather. but still, it didn't roast my enthusiasm for the day away, because... 我的热情 (hey!) 好像一把火!
went to The Prata Place near my old house at Sembawang Road to have pratas (note here kelsey, its sembawang road not upper thomson road haha) because i think their pratas are really one of the best that i've eaten so far. Casuarina's, Upper Thomson's and Jalan Kayu's all cannot fight The Prata Place's ones! *slurps* especially their plain prata, its one nice chewy dough they've got! ordered plain, egg and cheese. niceee! :)

and we continued sitting there for another 2 hours after eating, talking about stuff. as always, we unintentionally talked about solemn issues, actually i should say its some thought-intriguing stuff, just that we delivered them in a solemn and serious way. and we make it sound like its some depressing and serious issue. haha. still, nice to have a serious exchange of ideas and thoughts! fruitful. :)
and then she came over to my house with the intention to reformat her lappie, but note the keyword, intend. haha she didnt in the end cause both of us duno how to reformat! horrible IT stuff. we ended up planning for her 21st instead, which is coming up in less than 2 months! and a big sad that i can't be at her 21st party! :( its gonna be so much fun (hmm fun cannot confirm, but at least there'll be good food?) sighs nvm. i'll get use to this soon.
and out of boredom and cheekiness, i gave in to the temptations her moles on her arm are giving me. i went ahead and joined the dots while she's working on her guest list. hahaha. she still thought im writing or drawing on her arm. hmm... yea technically can consider it as drawing lah. teeheehee.

and then we finally decided to go for dinner at 9pm with my sis, the Starbucks' spokesperson (can i have a tall vanilla latte please). after much discussion we decided on Hans since it's the only decent place that's still open at that hour other than fastfood outlets. the food's not bad, reasonable taste, reasonable price. should be back to dine again in future. :)

and i finally went for a haircut today, the lion mane needs some tending to. because kel needs to run some errand at town today, we decided to meet up and go together. i shall skip the details and just show the end product, the new neat human-like hair. :) and because im with kel, the one person whom i know who likes to walk so much, we walked from bugis to suntec for dinner. along the way we passed by a Mr Bean shop and once again i couldnt resist the temptation to get my favourite Mr Bean soya milk (as you can tell by now how good i am at resisting temptations). so there, my newly trimmed hair with the tempting soya milk. :)

the day, erms night ended off on a good note. after dinner, we walked from suntec to clark quay (remember who i'm with) to take bus number 851 home. sang many songs while walking along kel's favourite route. and we tried to harmonise some songs too haha. okay im tireds. that's about it i guess. shall turn in now. oyasumi!

Bang Prawns
before i start on anything, just wana share this cannibal post i saw on a person's blog. it's a true story and i think that person is seriously psychotic, very very ill in the mind. and the post has got all the details of how that Jap guy ate the Dutch woman up (parts by parts, some raw, some fried), and also included some very gruesome photos in it. what did the woman do to deserve such a horrible death? even reading about it made me feel sinful and guilty, i really wonder how he could have done it and still be able to live with it at this very moment (yes he's alive still in japan! unbelievable). cannot stand the thought. freaky. and i dun think im putting the link down because, its just too sinful and freaky. i dun want to pollute my blog. and im never revisiting it again.
went prawning with some odacers (geok, eeling, ziyi, josh (supposedly xiu and val too)) on friday. i think last week was better cause we caught more and bigger prawns haha. but all in all prawning's still fun! :) oh almost forgot, because josh and ziyi ORD-ed on friday, they were so high the entire day and even brought beer over to celebrate. and everytime their phone ring or when they call someone they'll replace 'hello' with 'ord loh' and continue with their normal conversation. haha its damn funny hearing from the side. like "ord loh! yea so tonight we go your place at 7pm lah..." and ziyi got so high at the end he kept laughing to himself and even poke the chopstick through the plate. hahaha. he crazy already lah.

and after prawning, as usual we brought the prawns over to xiuhui's place for her super maid, umi to cook for us. haha. and played Bang for the entire night. its addictive! that game. but i suck at it. nvm! i'll get better! :) val for the next Bang session you'd better dun ps anymore huh, haha. and played the memory game using poker. that game's fun too!

okay i realise i didnt change the time zone for my blog since i came back, that's why the timing for my blog post is cranked up. okay lah nevermind, don't care. im going to bed now. oyasumi!

about blogging
you know suddenly i realise there are so many things we can blog about; from the things we do everyday, reviews of food, movies and music we hear, an experience, to our thoughts and views over certain issues. so many, and suddenly i felt quite wasted for not blogging more when i was in melbourne, at least i would remember the little things i would otherwise forget if i had noted them down here. (you got me there kel!)
/sidenote kelsey told me my post lack alot of punctuations, esp commas, hence causing my readers to have to disect the long sentences themselves, haha. this is making me so conscious about my commas now when im typing this post.
and the same applies to my hols too! i should blog more conscientiously so i can come back and reminisce after the busy school term starts or when i miss my friends and singapore.
i was just looking at the new album nat posted on facebook, you know the photos we took when we sent her off at the airport. after those airport photos, she actually also took photos of the cabin's food, the movie/show she watched on the plane, game she played and some zi pai photos on the plane. and after seeing all of that, i was very inspired to do one post on my journey back to melbourne. i could see her excitement behind those photos about her exchange, and about her life that lies ahead. and it was actually sort of interesting to see what she's been up to on the plane. (or maybe i was just being kaypo haha!)
maybe for me, the excitement about starting a new life overseas had faded, and all those journeys to and fro melbourne and home had made me sort of numb to a flight journey. but i guess it would be quite interesting to share a what-would-have-been boring flight journey if i make a conscious attempt to share everything i do on the plane. haha okay peeps lookout for my flight journey post on hmm, quickest 27th Feb, if not 28th. oh and i'll be taking Airbus 380! can then share how it looks like from within through photos. :)
oh and i think i haven told anyone, im leaving on the night of 26th Feb! i have about one more month left.
