care and share

been wanting to share these little things that happened but kept forgetting, so i've decided to do it now, once and for all.

this happened when mic just came back to melbourne and we were having dinner together.

VAL: michh, did you miss me? :)))
MIC: *swallows food* (since we were having dinner) *looks up* which part of me looks like i don't miss you?

hahaha this was soooo good. such a sweet talker you are michy. (hey mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind hey mickey! hey hey hey mickey!)

another thing to share about is an advertisement our lecturer showed us during Product Management lecture. it was so good, the ad. haaa.

SETTING: Supermarket

this father and son, (about 4 years old?) were shopping for groceries in the supermarket. the little boy set his hands on a packet of candies and put it into the shopping trolley. the father took the candies out and put it back onto the rack. the boy took the candies and put it right back into the trolley. and the dad put it back again.

the boy looked unhappy. he started screaming, "i want the candies!", "I WANT THE CANDIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

this commotion attracted many curious looks from other shoppers in the supermarket.

the boy started rolling on the floor and threw a tantrum. he rolled, stood up and started throwing products on other shelves onto the floor.

the onlookers looked sympathetically at the father. and the father appeared helpless.

at the end of the advertisement, 2 words sprang out to cover the whole screen.

USE CONDOMS!

the whole lecture group burst out laughing for quite some time. the idea was sooo good haha, i was still thinking what this ad's trying to sell man. haaa.

another thing, think this is a normal note pad and pen? well then you are wrong! check out what this pen can do. haha.

:D

that's about it for my care and share session. more interesting stuff to share in future. :)

all the untold stories behind those smiley faces

sometimes as you age you'll see, that the world just isn't as simple as black and white. other colours start to appear. it isn't just happy or sad. hot or cold. long or short. up or down.

sometimes when you smile, it doesn't just mean you're good.

tonight's party was awesome. more than awesome. more than more than awesome.

but all the untold stories behind those smiley faces. all the broken hearts behind those smiley masked face.

when can we truly get there?

honeymoon first week

its like living in an air conditioned room everyday these few days. but the temperature's so unstable, sometimes very cold, sometimes warm (sometimes when we touch). been wanting to blog so badly cause the things to blog about has been piling up, but somehow time always slip by me so fast!

honeymoon first week's over in a blink of eye. kinda settled in my new apartment now, and for the last time, i love staying in the city! :) one small hiccup in our experience with the new apartment though - choked kitchen sink. horrible stuff, couldnt use the kitchen sink for days and the water's stuck in the sink for days as well. plumber came this morning and fixed everything within like 20mins or so? never love plumbers more for their magic hands. :)

bought new havainas at the summer clearance sale last week with 40% off, so it costs like only $18?! :D was so happy after i made the purchase. ohh i bought a cute apple clip on as well! aint they cute together? heees.

had a belated birthday celebration dinner for mic last wednesday at Yar Restaurant, a korean and japanese buffet restaurant. the following night, we made our way to St Kilda's night market after school, it was okay (maa maa (okay, alright in jap haaa)). there were many small cute stalls, music (live band playing country music), crowds, spontaneous audience dancing with the music, food and a secretive lemonade stall (cause the owner didnt allow me to take photo of the stall! :( ). love this photo taken at the tram stop haha.

and val dear bought her Baby Geek specs for our housewarming party this coming friday! sneak preview of her dress code before friday.

met up with the year two peeps on friday night to catch up (we have no classes together since we're doing different majors now!) had dinner, then some after dinner drinks and hang out in our new house till bout 12plus. everyone likes our new apartment very much! :) and looks like its gonna be the new hanging out place very soon. haaa. (i super dun mind the idea)

check out mic stealing cake for supper at night! hahaha.

DA SHAO CHU, cleaned the entire house on saturday after finally getting a vacuum cleaner. did the week's worth of laundry, cleaned the toilet, tidy up the house and stuff. was preparing for brunch when the hailstorm happened. haha. super funny.

SETTING

the sky looked very ominous with heavy and dark clouds passing very quickly that noon. i was spreading butter making egg mayo sandwich with mic sitting opp me. it started raining then and we thought, okayy, rain. i love rainy days.

then the rain's splattering sound sounded very wrong. its like a million rocks dropping on your roof, your windows and on the ground. we went to the windows to check out what's going on and realised omg its raining hails. luckily we were at home and i totally started a live commentary of the storm on FB. took photos of the whole storm as well.

the start of the storm looked like this. hails on our balcony. and after awhile our balcony started to flood, at the same time paper bags of unknown origins started flying into our balcony. i thought our windows and balcony door might just shatter from the force of the storm and hails. and then we thought maybe 2012 is just gonna happen.

check out the view from my room and the living room when the storm is at its full force. i see the need to show the normal view from my room without the storm too.

then when the view cleared abit, we looked out the window to find a flooded Elizabeth St below us! goshh and the poor pedestrains were all trapped under the inadequate shelter outside the shops. after that we learnt that most shops, restaurants and even banks were flooded. we could see restaurants sweeping water out when the storm ended. and our internet connection was cut off shortly after the storm. -.-

that's about it for the storm part. went grocery shopping and used our kitchen for the first time on sunday to prepare dinner. invited mingyang, mic's ex neighbour over for dinner as well. the night was quite fun cause he blasted his ipod and we totally made up a mini kbox session with it. haaa. and i made a photo board that night for my room, using those photos i developed in singapore. after much thought, i decided to place the board on top of my bed, so its like the main highlight everytime i enter the room. :)

went to school on monday morning and my friendly neighbours told me in the lift that there's moomba festival at 11am on Swanston St. it was suppose to be over the weekend but i guess the storm caused everything to be postponed. i think i'll upload the photos on FB this post's taking too long. neways on my way to school, snapped some photos of the performers of the moomba festival. quite cool.

then while skyping with kel at night, i was totally surprised and taken aback cause i heard some loud crack, looked up, and saw fireworks exploding in front of me! i was like OMG its the fireworks from the Moombo Festival! and we get to see it from our apartment, its like staying near marina/esplanade in singapore. fireworks are indeed a public good and we third parties gain positive externality out of it. is that right? hahaha. econs.

our dinner yesterday night - red wine, garlic and onion chicken, brocolli and soup. after dinner, yang surprised both mic and i by showing up at our place with his ai xin dessert haha.

kitchen close shop tonight, went out for dinner at J Cafe, this place that sells very awesome sushi burger and curry rice (coming from someone who dun like Jap Curry Rice). shopped for our housewarming party this coming friday after dinner.

okayy week 2 of school, がんばってね! :)

みなさん、今日はお元気ですか?

let me blog more when the days are still free. but i reckon i'll have much more time this sem since my days start at 11am.

毎日朝10時に起きることにしています。

i have decided to wake up at 10 every morning. the day's so much longer this way, and i realise i'll have so much more free time in the afternoon after school. my timetable's all set and done! a 5-day week, not that i can control since lectures cant be changed. but i'm happy enough, at least i dun have any long breaks in between classes. :)

went for jap seminar in the morning just before noon and as we proceed on, the classes become smaller. from Jap 1A, overfull seminars and 2 lecture streams, to Jap 1B, smaller lecture groups, to now Jap 2A, 1 lecture stream, 95% full seminars. best of all i feel so noob in class now with all my fellow beginner classmates gone. seems like people taking Jap 2A have Jap background in high school, like they've taken VCE Japanese before (something like GCE A's in Jap). everyone's so fluent in Jap and seems to be always in the know. even the teacher is speaking more in Japanese to us now.

がんばってね ユミンさん!

oo btw michelle's back! :) sleeping in her room now after a tiring flight. had chinese takeaway for lunch today, bought stir fried noodles and the box looked so cute! wana share with you my favourite juice here in melbourne as well. Berri fresh apple and mango juice! most awesome juice ever. if Peel Fresh was to be established here, i think they will go bankrupt in no time! haha.

*yawns* i wana take a nap now (so much for waking at 10 everyday).

sometimes when we touch

"and who am i to judge you, on what you say or do
i'm only just beginning, to see the real you"

i am sipping on to the leftover iced choc. from yesterday night's Koko Black and listening to Sometimes When We Touch, by Olivia Ong again. am totally addicted to this song, replayed like a thousand times (exaggeration here), and i totally love this line. who am i to judge you, on what you say or do~. before you start judging someone, remember you are just beginning to see the real them. :)

i am incorrigible. kept drinking latte everyday since i arrived! but seriously Kere Kere, a small coffee stall at a super ulu part of Uni Melb serves the best coffee in town! like even better than Starbucks or whatever. and i ate alot of sushis too. oppps. lovely!

i am so proud of myself today, blasted the room with music in the evening and started unpacking everything. finally by 10pm tonight i unpacked all my luggages, boxes, plastic bags and shopping bags i used to shift house. now everything's so neat and tidy. :) mich's coming back tomorrow morning, not really excited cause i have to wake up at 8.30am to open door for her. haha. but still, looking forward to the new life with her! <3

helped val dear shift her stuff in my house to her college yesterday night, and in return she treated us to dinner! had awesome thai food at Thai City instead of the more famous Ying Thai cause it is closed on Mondays. and it's really authentic thai food man. even the waitress is from thailand i think. melbourne rocks for that. :)

oh and i almost froze to death yesterday night with only shorts and a long sleeve top. the weather is crazy, drop by 10 degrees at night and caught us all offguard. im gonna be more alert from now on to prevent these unpleasant situations. haha.

btw! i was suppose to share this in my previous post but as you can see from the length of my previous post, i decided not to in the end. was shopping for some basic groceries like bread on sunday night at a big supermarket in town (have to emphasize that), and came across this sight on the bread rack.

haha. awesome!

journey to the melb

"and who am i to judge you, on what you say or do
i'm only just beginning, to see the real you"

i'm munching on to Grainwaves, listening to Sometimes When We Touch, by Olivia Ong and typing this post. all has been well so far. i like my new house, its something like home. :) wayyyyyy better than College Sq that ulu loo place on lygon st which always gives the lone feel. and best of all, i dun have to take tram home from the city anymore. just walk. and i like the idea very much. :)

this post's gonna be long. i warn first.

because renee complained that the pictures are too small, i'm gonna upload it in medium size, so photos' gonna be real big this time. it all starts from packing for melb. thanks for coming to the airport despite your busy schedules girls.

/awesome! i cant upload photos into my blog now for reasons i'm not aware of. awesome!

/and now there are photos because i changed to upload them in small size. sorry renee i tried. but medium is really too big anyway. if you think small's too small, click on them and they'll enlarge in another window. :)

it feels quite stupid actually to be snapping photos on the plane, try it next time and you'll know why. but i still took some since i promised this post. so this is the view from my seat, smack right in the middle of 3 seats on the left aisle. the setting of the plane is 3 seats on the left aisle, 4 in the middle and 3 on the right. supper was fish and potato or clam chicken with 3 treasure fried rice, i chose fish and potato since dinner before was fried rice for me.

i flipped through the entire SIA entertainment magazine to find no shows of my interest. randomly chose one australian film, Charlie and Boots which sucked totally. worst of all movies i've ever watched. if Wolfman was half a popcorn (ratings/review), Charlie and Boots has to be -5 popcorns. but i finished it anyway. oh another thing, there's a cup holder beside the screen. i think its quite cool and convenient cause we can just put our cups there while doing other things, without the need to open the dining table. *thumbs up* for that. :)

read abit of all the books given to me before boarding the plane (will elaborate more on this in another post), prayed abit, listened to my updated ipod, dozed abit, listened somemore, dozed abit more, then breakfast came at about 3am. its muffin and a bun with butter and jam. listened to my ipod again, dozed abit more, and we landed.

the airport was insanely crowded that morning, no exaggeration. everything needed waiting for. flights from all over started arriving after we landed; Singapore, Phuket, Hong Kong, Germany. i know cause i heard the PA system announcing, passengers who arrived from flight xxx from country please collect your baggages at baggage claim row no..

while i was waiting for my luggages, the airport staff took the dogs out to sniff for drugs and i was frantically trying to get myself out of the dogs' way. eyes on the dogs instead of the luggage belt. scary. not that i have drugs. okay fine i have heroine in my bag yea. OKAY in case the cops are so sensitive these days, im just kidding! i'm actually just scared of dogs. :) (sweet smile) (im sucha SL, SU LA haha.)

and finally after collecting my luggages and putting them onto a trolley, i made my way towards the exit sign. and way before i reach the declaration point, there was actually a queue to the queue to exit. yes. waited quite abit before reaching the declaration point where you'll separate into different queues if you declare food or if you declare nothing. i declared food on the incoming card.

to my surprise, the officer asked me what food i have even before we separate into the different queues, and i said "tomato sauce and chilli sauce", conveniently forget to mention about the Bak Kut Teh spices (i wonder if it's angry listening in the bag), and he told me to go to that exit (pointing towards a door), which i thought is another place for luggage checking. so i went past that door, looked up, and i received many anticipating glares. some holding on to A4 size name cards. im out of the custom! haha. yes, with my luggages unchecked, unscanned. now im quite sure i do have a sincere, honest, pretty and cute looking face. :) (sweet smile again)

took a cab to my new address and my eyes almost popped out from the dry-ness in the plane. wanted to do nothing else but sleep since i didnt sleep much the whole night. but my bed was this welcoming.

totally regretted not washing my bedsheets and quilt before i went home last semester. now i have to do it before i can sleep. best of all, because im new to the place, i have no idea how to operate the washing machine. and i cant find the manual, so i did what i always did during exams with challenging questions - try and error.

threw the bedsheets and leftover laundry from last sem inside and started pressing randomly. the machine started. water sound (good, water's coming out, the way a washing machine should be like), then the water sound stopped in a few secs (huh?! so fast one meh? the machine's not even half filled with water!), machine roared with weird sounds as it started spinning or whatever it is doing (omg the machine's gonna explode, what did i just do to it?) started pressing and turning randomly again. the machine stopped, then spinned again, then the swashing and swooshing sound.

OMG. THAT'S IT. try and error needs to be stopped. started looking around for the machine manual and fortunately before the machine explode, i found the manual and set it properly to wash and then dry automatically. *phew* what a welcoming present back in melbourne i thought. washed the filter jug and changed the catridge so i have water to drink. whoever who caused the ban for water on planes ought to feel guilty! hmph!

while waiting for the laundry which took forever, i unwrapped the new mattress and took out pillows. was soo tired that before i could stop myself, i was already dozing off on the mattress without any bedsheets and pillow case (horrible me!). that was about 11plus am i think.

i woke up at 1pm later when val called me to talk for awhile. she said she was on her way to meet anthony for dim sum, say she's coming over later for awhile, asked me if i wanted food. no i dun want food, i want sleep, i thought. woke up to find the laundry's ready, though still abit damp, but it's decently clean and dry. threw the quilt in to wash, put the bedsheet and pillow cases on and went back to sleep.

awoke next at 3pm when val called again saying she's coming now. woke up and pack the house abit. she came to pack her stuff that's in my house with anthony. then we talked until about 4plus 5, i went out to get stuff (power extension cord and socket board, if not no power) and dinner. i woke up too late for Melb Uni bookshop so didnt get the modem for internet. washed up, packed my room, and KO-ed at 10pm later that night. look at the difference of my bed. through my magic hands, its so warm and welcoming now. and the laptop, printer, table lamp and table are all fixed too! nice. :)

slept all the way till 11am this morning and went out to get modem and lunch. need to get myself connected by then. need to know what's happening to the world. feeling weird without internet. lunch is latte (vanilla latte please) and 2 special california sushi rolls, which i delayed eating once im connected to the internet. heee.

met up with the melbb loves later that afternoon for St Kilda's Beach. was so cold and windy today. over! then saw this beautiful sight along the beach. the sun rays shooting out from the curtain of dark clouds.

they are God's rays of hope in period of dark times (at least that's what i see, you can try to see other things out of it! :) ).

"Dear God, thank you for loving me. Thank You for this day, and the beautiful world i live in. Thank You for my family and friends to play and share my life with. Thank You for my home, for clothes and food, and a safe place to be. Dear God, help me to do what You want me to do. Forgive me when i do wrong things, when i hurt myself and those around me. Forgive me when i hurt You. Make me want to be the very best that i can be. In Jesus name, i pray. Amen."

this is a prayer attached to the small hands bible Lee Si gave me before i left. i find it very applicable, so i prayed it. i am still abit lost in my journey with Christ, but i know, all will be well.

school's starting tomorrow. first week of school, ganbatte!

summer loves

as much as i want to share my whole life in this blog, time is working against me and even though i say 'strive on', i only manage to blog up till CNY! hmmm. nvm its fine, i've just uploaded the last of the photos taken this summer hols and here's a wrap up post before i leave for melbourne tomorrow.

tomorrow, and i haven done anything that makes me feel like im leaving tomorrow. clothes still hanging lazily in the wardrobe, dusty luagges in the corner of my room, bags and shoes happily chuck away in the cupboard, nothing packed. i'll pack tonight after i come back from the last meet up with val, eeling and geoky alrights.

this hols had been fruitful, even though i feel like im totally wasting my life away for 3 months, like i've been doing nothing productive, but it's been fruitful because i caught up with all of my friends, even the long lost primary school ones.

and best of all, i got to know God this holiday. He works in the most unexpected ways and i'm totally taken over. Thank You for all that You've done for me, and Thank You for leading me to you Lord.

"changes occur within us so subtly we may not even notice or realise the change when it happened, but somehow bit by bit, through the different exposures and experiences in life, we are changing."

i remembered wroting something like that in my previous post and went to check, indeed in one of the post on June 10, 2009, i found this paragraph.

the subtle changes in me was magnified this hols, through mouths of friends, telling me how i've changed. and looking back, i think they are right. maybe choosing melbourne isn't that bad a choice afterall. :)

Over You, Chris Daughtry

Now that it's all said and done,
I can't believe you are the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house

What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess i let you get the best of me.

Well, i never saw it coming.
And i should've started running
A long, long time ago

And i never thought i'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.

I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
From spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.

'Cause the day i thought i'd never get through, I got over you.

You took a hammer to these walls,
Dragged the memories down the hall,
Packed your bags and walked away.
There was nothing i could say.

And when you slammed the front door shut,
A lot of others opened up,
So did my eyes so i could see
That you were never the best for me.

happy tiger year!

so many things happened and i am still at happy tiger year!, haha. well its okay, strive on!

went for our usual CNY Day 1 routine visiting, by gathering at ah ma's house first, before setting off in a big group to do the rounds of visiting. and at ah ma's house, i realise a new routine/tradition is slowly setting in, that is taking photos! like all the boys must sit together to take photos, after that girls and so on. drank this sweet soup with longan and white fungus, something like chng teng but i dun think it is.

anyways then we set off to do the visiting. uncle 3 was again the joker of the day. grandaunt always make the best pineapple tarts during CNY and this year at her house, she said cause of her spinal injuries she cant stand for long, so her daughters are the ones making. grandaunt was like saying "今年她们做,我看" then uncle 3 said, "怎么可以这样? 她们做?" grandaunt went on to say how bad her back is. then uncle 3 cut in and say again, "怎么可以这样? 她们坐? 你站?!" hahaha when i heard that i was like LOL. but apparantly grandaunt didnt catch it i think, cause she continued sharing about her back injuries. hahaha. super funny lah my third uncle.

after the visiting, went back to ah ma's house in the afternoon and cutsie pie vivian celebrated her 5th birthday with a strawberry ice cream cake from Swensens. both her and justin (her brother now 7 years old) were so fascinated by the smoke from the dry ice cause qikai went to put the leftover dry ice into a cup and added water to it, so that it will constantly eject smoke. both of them are so cute! this part of the post will be photo-less cause in the rush to get out of house that morning, i left my camera, sonie at home! :(

anyways after that had lunch at ah ma's place and finally went home to rest in the late afternoon about 4plus 5pm. was so exhausted then, didnt know visiting can be so exhuasting. haha. showered and took a like 5mins power nap in a weird position, with my hand supporting my head cause my hair is still wet from the bath. after that went to fetch qixuan and qishuang to our place to play Wii. wheeeee. played Raving Rabbids and Mario Kart again. haha. went to ah ma's house for dinner at night at about 8pm.

later that night, we went to esplanade, the floating platform for 'Angbao by the River, 春到河畔' to take a look. check out this giant 财神爷! the phoenix and dragon are actually made up of porcelain spoons and saucers!

went to had supper at AMK's MacDonalds after that. its horrible that day, kept eating and eating nonstop since morning. anyways only one thing to share about during Macs supper. that is qikai and i were talking about our primary school friends, like hunkiat, mellavin all those. i was just telling him how mella had changed and had this tattoo of a beautiful girl on his arm. then suddenly i looked out of the window, i saw mella standing outside with his friends! oh my, really dun anyhow say ill things about people (though we werent). haha.

after that uncle 4 asked us to go to his house to play raby/laby whatever you call it and it was like 1am already. he said the night is still young. haha. my uncle's so hip. then went to play all the way until 3plus am before heading home. was so exhuasted that night i slept immediately once i hit the bed.

the next few days of CNY were filled with mahjong, mahjong and more mahjong. totally had a mahjong spree. this year's CNY was fulfilling and fun! HAPPY TIGER YEAR all of you, my beloved blog viewers. :)
