masterchef yishun

been using the phone alot today, and suddenly i noticed something about our house phone. can you see? try spotting the difference! (haha my favourite fb game)

number 7, 8 and 0 are apparently the least popular numbers in our phonebooks since their buttons are still intact. the protective plastic layer for the other numbers have sort of been scratched already! heehee.

called crystal jade at holland v today to make reservations for their xlb buffet, but guess what, we really need to book that one week in advance! :S actually qihui told me before that their xlb buffet has to be booked one week in advance. but i thought one week's abit too much and didnt, so in the end... :( really couldn't get seats for friday's 8.30pm slot! super sians, like we've all been so looking forward to the buffet!

prepared dinner for my family tonight with my sis since her bf's coming over for a meal. and i haven touched the stove for some 2 months or so? it feels so different to cook here because i duno what ingredients are available and where those condiments are placed.

she was screaming away when i took this photo, hahaha. okay and actually my mum helped when she reached home cause i think she cannot stand our speed, she say we too slow. :(

my favourite dish below on the left. it's super shiok!

of pratas, mr bean, and a haircut

'RAH-RAH-AH-AH-AH
ROMA, ROMA-MA
GAGA, OOH LA LA
want your bad romance~~'

okay totally a random start, but this song kept making its way into my mind for the whole of today, very addictive (rah rah ah ah ah roma roma ma~) hahaha.

i've been seeing so much of kelsey these days that my blog can serve as the evidence. and our meetups are totally random and uncalled for. always a spontaneous call and we're out somewhere having a meal or something. met up with her last saturday, a day with an oven-like weather, to have prata. and the reason i say oven-like is because once i step out into the sun, its like i've just stepped into an oven preparing to be roasted or baked! horrible weather. but still, it didn't roast my enthusiasm for the day away, because... 我的热情 (hey!) 好像一把火!

went to The Prata Place near my old house at Sembawang Road to have pratas (note here kelsey, its sembawang road not upper thomson road haha) because i think their pratas are really one of the best that i've eaten so far. Casuarina's, Upper Thomson's and Jalan Kayu's all cannot fight The Prata Place's ones! *slurps* especially their plain prata, its one nice chewy dough they've got! ordered plain, egg and cheese. niceee! :)

and we continued sitting there for another 2 hours after eating, talking about stuff. as always, we unintentionally talked about solemn issues, actually i should say its some thought-intriguing stuff, just that we delivered them in a solemn and serious way. and we make it sound like its some depressing and serious issue. haha. still, nice to have a serious exchange of ideas and thoughts! fruitful. :)

and then she came over to my house with the intention to reformat her lappie, but note the keyword, intend. haha she didnt in the end cause both of us duno how to reformat! horrible IT stuff. we ended up planning for her 21st instead, which is coming up in less than 2 months! and a big sad that i can't be at her 21st party! :( its gonna be so much fun (hmm fun cannot confirm, but at least there'll be good food?) sighs nvm. i'll get use to this soon.

and out of boredom and cheekiness, i gave in to the temptations her moles on her arm are giving me. i went ahead and joined the dots while she's working on her guest list. hahaha. she still thought im writing or drawing on her arm. hmm... yea technically can consider it as drawing lah. teeheehee.

and then we finally decided to go for dinner at 9pm with my sis, the Starbucks' spokesperson (can i have a tall vanilla latte please). after much discussion we decided on Hans since it's the only decent place that's still open at that hour other than fastfood outlets. the food's not bad, reasonable taste, reasonable price. should be back to dine again in future. :)

and i finally went for a haircut today, the lion mane needs some tending to. because kel needs to run some errand at town today, we decided to meet up and go together. i shall skip the details and just show the end product, the new neat human-like hair. :) and because im with kel, the one person whom i know who likes to walk so much, we walked from bugis to suntec for dinner. along the way we passed by a Mr Bean shop and once again i couldnt resist the temptation to get my favourite Mr Bean soya milk (as you can tell by now how good i am at resisting temptations). so there, my newly trimmed hair with the tempting soya milk. :)

the day, erms night ended off on a good note. after dinner, we walked from suntec to clark quay (remember who i'm with) to take bus number 851 home. sang many songs while walking along kel's favourite route. and we tried to harmonise some songs too haha. okay im tireds. that's about it i guess. shall turn in now. oyasumi!

Bang Prawns

before i start on anything, just wana share this cannibal post i saw on a person's blog. it's a true story and i think that person is seriously psychotic, very very ill in the mind. and the post has got all the details of how that Jap guy ate the Dutch woman up (parts by parts, some raw, some fried), and also included some very gruesome photos in it. what did the woman do to deserve such a horrible death? even reading about it made me feel sinful and guilty, i really wonder how he could have done it and still be able to live with it at this very moment (yes he's alive still in japan! unbelievable). cannot stand the thought. freaky. and i dun think im putting the link down because, its just too sinful and freaky. i dun want to pollute my blog. and im never revisiting it again.

went prawning with some odacers (geok, eeling, ziyi, josh (supposedly xiu and val too)) on friday. i think last week was better cause we caught more and bigger prawns haha. but all in all prawning's still fun! :) oh almost forgot, because josh and ziyi ORD-ed on friday, they were so high the entire day and even brought beer over to celebrate. and everytime their phone ring or when they call someone they'll replace 'hello' with 'ord loh' and continue with their normal conversation. haha its damn funny hearing from the side. like "ord loh! yea so tonight we go your place at 7pm lah..." and ziyi got so high at the end he kept laughing to himself and even poke the chopstick through the plate. hahaha. he crazy already lah.

and after prawning, as usual we brought the prawns over to xiuhui's place for her super maid, umi to cook for us. haha. and played Bang for the entire night. its addictive! that game. but i suck at it. nvm! i'll get better! :) val for the next Bang session you'd better dun ps anymore huh, haha. and played the memory game using poker. that game's fun too!

okay i realise i didnt change the time zone for my blog since i came back, that's why the timing for my blog post is cranked up. okay lah nevermind, don't care. im going to bed now. oyasumi!

about blogging

you know suddenly i realise there are so many things we can blog about; from the things we do everyday, reviews of food, movies and music we hear, an experience, to our thoughts and views over certain issues. so many, and suddenly i felt quite wasted for not blogging more when i was in melbourne, at least i would remember the little things i would otherwise forget if i had noted them down here. (you got me there kel!)

/sidenote kelsey told me my post lack alot of punctuations, esp commas, hence causing my readers to have to disect the long sentences themselves, haha. this is making me so conscious about my commas now when im typing this post.

and the same applies to my hols too! i should blog more conscientiously so i can come back and reminisce after the busy school term starts or when i miss my friends and singapore.

i was just looking at the new album nat posted on facebook, you know the photos we took when we sent her off at the airport. after those airport photos, she actually also took photos of the cabin's food, the movie/show she watched on the plane, game she played and some zi pai photos on the plane. and after seeing all of that, i was very inspired to do one post on my journey back to melbourne. i could see her excitement behind those photos about her exchange, and about her life that lies ahead. and it was actually sort of interesting to see what she's been up to on the plane. (or maybe i was just being kaypo haha!)

maybe for me, the excitement about starting a new life overseas had faded, and all those journeys to and fro melbourne and home had made me sort of numb to a flight journey. but i guess it would be quite interesting to share a what-would-have-been boring flight journey if i make a conscious attempt to share everything i do on the plane. haha okay peeps lookout for my flight journey post on hmm, quickest 27th Feb, if not 28th. oh and i'll be taking Airbus 380! can then share how it looks like from within through photos. :)

oh and i think i haven told anyone, im leaving on the night of 26th Feb! i have about one more month left.

bon voyage nat

receive a call first thing morning, erms noon (haha) after i wake up but still rotting on the bed, it was from kelsey. she offered to deliver pontian wonton mee to my house, which of course i gladly accepted the offer since i already had plans to eat that for lunch; thanks to who recently kept eating that noodles big bowl somemore (so greedy) drive up my cravings for it too.

but after eating it for the i think 1000th time since i came back, i've decided its about time to stop for awhile haha. but im sure im gonna miss it badly in melbourne. okay so the plan is to gorge myself with that wonton mee everyday till im like super super super sick so i won't have cravings for the next 9 months when im away. set!

and we sang and recorded officially missing you for the whole afternoon haha too free and crazy i know. but it was so much fun! and funny to hear our voices being recorded.

"all i hear is raindrops, falling on the rooftop, oooh baby tell me why'd you have to go, cuz this pain i feel it won't go away, and today~ im officially missing you..."

and then went to send natty poo off to Denmark, Copenhagen tonight but before that, met up with leesi to finish up our photo scrapbook for her. it was so nice lah, feel like taking a photo of every page haha. but this kinda scrapbook and artsy stuff never fail to point out to me how horrendous my art skills are, seriously. ahh shit forgot to take a photo of the last page where i proudly contributed an SIA aeroplane hahaha.

she should be on the plane by now, have a safe flight and all the best for the exchange natty poo! seeya end of the year i suppose.

ps. im determined to keep my blog alive and kicking. :)

photo scrapbook

err hmm! here to clear the dust. heehee.

just saw something on facebook that made my blood boil. this post wasnt suppose to be on this, but just to let some steam off...

seriously singaporeans should stop being so mean, proud and racist, and stop discriminating new foreign immigrants in singapore! its just like how you don't like to feel unrespected and discriminated against in a foreign country, please dun do something you won't like people to do on you! and stop thinking singapore is soley owned by singaporeans for we don't own this place, we live here and this is our home, but that doesnt mean non-singaporeans cant stay here! and with globalisation i dun see how we can, and afford to shut 'foreigners' out of singapore. furthermore given that we're a migrant society, all of us are essentially immigrants, its just a matter of who arrives and stay here first. maybe our ancestors had arrived earlier and the new immigrants later, so what? please dont act like a friggin babarian and start drawing boundaries on who own the place and who doesnt. seriously! time to move forward.

and it always feels better to be on the giving end and have someone back you up, but wait till you leave singapore and start receiving all these shit from real foreigners; where in their eyes you are them, the intruders, then maybe you'll reconsider about being so mean and racist towards the 'foreigners' in singapore. and then you'd better stop complaining about how others are racist and mean towards you, because you deserve it.

okayy steam let-off-ed. back to my original post, hope nat doesnt read this till she's in denmark because this is meant to be a surprise haha. met up with lee si tonight to make a photo scrapbook for nat as a farewell gift, and this photo scrapbook shall accompany natty nat through any cold and lonely nights she might have over in copenhagen. :) some warmth from singapore haha.

i was sorting the photos yesterday and it took one whole afternoon! cheungmarl. but it also gave me a chance to sort out my own photos to bring back to melbourne. been wanting to develop photos for melbourne since i think 2000 years ago, and finally i did it yesterday! :) so proud of myself haha. cant wait to decorate my new room with all these nice photos.

and while sorting the photos, i realised i have a preference for photos that capture genuine emotions and photos that have very good feel, haha like ferlin pointed out, i like photos that transmit a very warm and together-ness feeling. i might not look my best in some photos, (for example laugh or smile till very over or smile until i cant see my eyes, which happen to happen alot of times haha) but i still like those photos very much. at least they're genuine. :)

neways sending nat off tmr night but before that, horribleee have to finish up the photo scrapbook before the flight carrying natty nat flies off. haha. will take a photo of the beautiful scrapbook tmr.

ciaos!

november post

its been so long my dear old and dusty bloggie. *take a look at my previous post haha val's 21st. oh and the picnic happened. like 2 months ago. and spring came and went away. how fast.

okay recent events first had my first paper - finance today, on the first official day of examinations how good and bad is that. gosh it feels like yesterday when i was just sitting here typing about marketing last sem. how i sacrificed my left hand battling with time. haha. and compared to that today's paper was like a breeze, totally no need to write so much so fast and so vigorously.

and the weather just makes me feel like GOING HOME RIGHT AWAY. seriously the aussie sun is life-threatening. even though singapore's bad, summer here is worst! just a few hours out there and im like a roasted pig now. red arms red face black feet. not to exaggerate, but i thought i smelt human flesh just now under the sun outside the exam hall. its not sweaty smell, body odour smell or perfume or whatever, its the smell of human flesh under extreme heat. at least that's what i thought it was. haha. and today's the first time i sweated so profusely during an exam (no aircon!). horrible I WANA GO HOME NOW. haha.

NEXT taking jap made me realise the difficulty of learning a whole new language from scratch. i think in a lot of ways we took our ability to speak and write in two languages too lightly, its been like so taken for granted that we underestimate the difficulty of learning another language (hence the arrogant and put-down attitude towards people struggling with english or chinese). im suddenly so thankful that we're being exposed to both languages from young!

and funny thing is i only really understood what a verb, adjective, noun, adverb and other grammatical forms is until i took jap. hmmmm, i wonder how i passed my english in primary school without knowing all of that. haha. anyways as much as my sensei (teacher, which i always accidentally call sinseh when i first took jap haha) says jap is the easiest language to learn, still, not that easy given the intensity and time pressure to master all of that. sadly to say i will have to stop taking japanese from next sem onwards because its taking up much more time than my 'real' commerce subjects. all in all despite the occasional complains and grumblings about jap, it has still been an enjoyable experience learning another language and im glad i took it because.. next time i can tell people proudly 'hey i know 2 and a half languages!'

examination dates are 9, 11, 13 and 16th and im coming home on the 21st. kinda happy with my exam timetable this semester since it ends so early. heee. and just a quick update to fill in the large gap between my previous and current post. been busy that period with school work, hell lot of assignments and understanding of new topics. i think year 2 of uni is really, possibly the most hectic year out of the 3 years. shall see if its true at the end of my uni life. and other than school work, managed to visit tasmania during my spring break for 3 days and it was a good getaway! ate lotsa good stuff and stayed in this really interesting themed-cottage on the first night. photos no photos since my camera died on me on the first day. and last week of spring break was filled by my family visiting.

NEXT VERY IMPORTANT PIECE OF NEWS

I AM SHIFTING! had a really really really hard time looking for apartment for the past what one and a half months? really is it so much to ask for to just want a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 decent bedrooms with proper wardrobe, proper door, proper windows and proper walls? because here's what, first we found an apartment with one bedroom without windows, hence only four walls and a door. next we found another one with a bedroom without windows and wardrobe. next one without door. yes without door can you call it a bedroom? next one with only 3 walls. really on the verge of exasperation when we finally got our current apartment last friday during our study break. and its really good stuff that apartment. love it so much. ;)

so we're gonna slowly shift our stuff in and shop for a few pieces of furniture next week after our last paper on the 16th. oh we meaning my future housemate and i heee.

okayy! there! all that i have to say. very concise already okay dun complain im too wordy again haha. good luck for the remaining papers to me! and im really LOOKING FORWARD TO RETURNING HOME! MY EVER ATTRACTIVE SUNNY ISLAND :D

ps. just a sudden thought, we should really treasure this prime time of our lives! do whatever we want to now and now and dun waste it. we are 20! young independent energised, not old enough to lose our passion, not young enough to feel restricted. so make the most out of it now because i can forsee we are gonna say 50 years later that we want to come back to this point of our life. at least for me i might say that heee. sooo LET'S LIVE IT!

21st

i am so tired now i think i'll fall asleep once i hit the bed.

went for val's 21st birthday dinner and party tonight and it was so awesome!! haha had lotsa fun tonight :)) and hope val enjoyed her day too. HAPPY 21ST! oh and this is the first 21st birthday celebration i've been to so far. and the thought that im gonna miss so many awesome parties, celebrations and birthday dinners next year make me feel damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn sian! how many 21st can we have in our life? :((((

was looking at the photo board thing they did for val just now and was so shocked to realise how much one year can do to everyone. haha. brought me back to like one year ago (which felt like soooo long) at this exact same month same day. oh my gosh, things are definitely so much better now. we all looked so horrible then! like so cui and neng and inexperienced and everything. hahaha. i wonder what i'll say one year later at this exact same month same day. ;)

oh my gosh next thing i wana say is, I LOVE GOOD FOOD! :)))) having good food can so lift one's spirits and recharge our exhausted body and mind after a week of work. so i really feel good and excited about the continuous good food hunt we're having now!! heeeheee but the thing is we only have so many free weekends and so much more good restaurants out there waiting for us to try. omg i cant wait to try the korean on little bourke! but before that, lets try vietnamnese(?) this sunday first. :)))))

the best thing about semester 2 is you'll wake up everyday feeling better about today, because everyday brings you closer to longer and warmer sun-lit days, and to my favourite season of the year - spring! colourful flowers blossoming, healthy green leaves growing back onto balding trees and basically brings life back into the gloomy city. best of all spring clothes are the nicest too! very colourful with lotsa floral prints (geok is gonna call me ah huay again haha), and all the spring clothes seem to be in pastel colours too (i lovvvve pastel colour clothes). omg i really do love spring!

i am waiting... for the best season of the year, and then it'll be picnic time at the pretty botanic garden. :)
